On April 28 Georgian Film Academy censored Taming the Garden and removed the film from its screen at Cinema House. "The film divides public opinion", "it's too political",  argued the director of the Georgian Film Academy Mindia Esadze, even he admitted he had not seen the film.

As Taming the Garden is also not released in commercial cinemas in Tbilisi, multiple alternative spaces in Georgia have opened their doors to the film and the audience.
